Remineralize Teeth with Vitamin K2 / Menaquinone-7 / MK-7

When the dentist told me that I had cavities despite adhering to a sugar-free diet for the past 7 years, I was really upset. The cavities were, of course, located near some old fillings that I’d had redone in the past 5 years to remove the mercury amalgam and replace it with biocompatible resin fillings. But still, how was that possible that I had cavities? He recommended that I get my fillings redone again. But this time, I didn’t just jump into the dentists chair. I decided to do some research first.

The first thing I found as I began to do research was a book called Cure Tooth Decay by Ramiel Nagel. I read a few chapters and felt more frightened than before reading it. I didn’t finish the book because it was talking about how I needed to eat liver for every meal. His diet recommendations mostly didn’t jive with the diet information that I painstakingly have mapped out for cancer and other degenerative diseases. Basically, if I followed his protocol, I'd get rid of cavities, but then develop cancer, gout, and other diseases instead. So I stopped reading. The main take-away though that I got from this book was that Bone Broth probably could be good for remineralizing teeth and a person who didn’t want to eventually end up with gout or cancer could drink a high-quality, homemade Bone Broth (that had been cooked for hours before consuming it) regularly for good results. Again though, I didn’t read the whole book. Rather, I moved on to a new book that seemed to connect up much better with the research I’ve done on supplements and diet for general health: Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox: How a Little-Known Vitamin Could Save Your Life.

Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox is an excellent read if you’re hoping to remineralize your teeth. This book talks specifically about vitamin K2, vitamin D3, vitamin A, Calcium, and a few other nutrients and how they work together to build bones (including teeth). I had been taking vitamin D3, thinking that it was really good for me given the fact that the media pushes this vitamin in regular new stories, but I didn’t realize that while my body would absorb calcium from food (I do NOT take calcium supplements because I know that to do so could cause my arteries to clog up with calcium deposits) but that it would not necessarily deposit the calcium in healthy places. Vitamin K2  (NOT vitamin K1, which is an entirely different vitamin that has to do with blood health) in the Menaquinone-7 / MK-7 form (NOT the Menaquinone-4 / MK-4 form) tells the body where the calcium needs to go -- namely into the bones and teeth.

Note that some people aren't able to remineralize their teeth unless they stop taking vitamin D and take only vitamin K2 / MK-7 at a dose of AT LEAST 200 or more mcg daily by itself. Consider taking up to 1200 mcg of vitamin K2 / MK-7 daily to remineralize teeth naturally though. If you have soft tissue calcification in some area of the body, you might take a dose closer to 2000 mcg per day, in fact. Be sure to take your cod liver oil and omega-3 supplements to see if they contain extra vitamin D (most products do). Also check your multivitamin for added vitamin D (either D2 or D3). You don't need all this vitamin D. It will cause your body to be unable to absorb trace minerals, iodine, and iron because of high levels of calcium circulating in the blood supply, not to mention the problem of soft-tissue calcifications (our organs don't function well when all or part of them have calcified).

So while vitamin D3 helps my body absorb calcium, vitamin K2 / MK-7 tells my body where to put the calcium (bones and teeth). So I suppose I have some plaque build-up in my arteries now because I wasn't aware of vitamin K2 as a vital nutrient, but apparently, if I start taking vitamin K2 / MK-7, the plaque build up should be 50% gone within 6 weeks. AND, I should start seeing a difference in my teeth.

UPDATE 2023: This is exactly what happened. I stopped taking vitamin D3 because I live in Mexico where I get lots of sunlight exposure every day. Most people who even get moderate sun exposure can stop taking vitamin D3 because vitamin D3 is produced naturally by the skin. Technically vitamin D3 should not even be considered a vitamin because it's produced naturally in the body. Vitamin D3 supplementation can actually harm you, so decide whether you want to take this nutrient with all of this in mind. In any case, after about a year of taking vitamin K2 / MK-7 at a dose of about 400 mcg per day (without vitamin D), my teeth were healed. The cavity went away. Teeth are made up of tiny magnetically charged ions of calcium and inorganic phosphates in a matrix. Though fluoride will try to step into this matrix and substitute for phosphate, this makes the teeth weak. In any case, if you get rid of fluoride exposure to your teeth and if you remove mercury amalgam fillings from the mouth, these magnetically charged ions of calcium and inorganic phosphates will constantly remodel themselves, stacking and unstacking, restacking, etc. in response to changing conditions in the mouth. If you want to rebuild a tooth, you simply need to make sure there's plenty of calcium ions IN THE BONES AND TEETH by taking vitamin K2 / MK-7.

I’ve stopped using toothpaste because toothpaste mostly contains glycerin and the vegetable glycerin clogs up the little microtubules in teeth that makes it possible for nutrients like Calcium and Phosphorus to flow freely through them to promote remineralization of teeth. Instead, I’m using Chlorine Dioxide with DMSO as a mouthwash followed by brushing and then at least 10-12 minutes of coconut pulling. I add baking soda, Clove Essential Oil, DMSO (Dimethylsulfoxide), and Calcium Carbonate to the coconut pulling regime so that my teeth get to interact directly with some calcium each day. As a rule, when the mouth is alkaline, the teeth are remineralizing. Acid conditions in the mouth cause the tiny magnetically charge calcium and inorganic phosphate ions to break themselves down. So the baking soda and calcium carbonate create that alkaline environment that makes the “tooth juices” flow from the inside to the outside of the teeth through those microtubules. An acidic mouth environment, in contrast, reverse the flow through those microtubules which generally has a negative effect on tooth health.

I’m not going to overcomplicate things while I’m remineralizing my teeth. I stopped drinking Green Tea throughout the day (which is slightly alkaline but unfortunately laced with fluoride). I’m putting some Thieves Essential Oil mix on my gums throughout the day because I have some receding gums too and I might as well work on those at the same time. The clove oil is acidic, but studies have shown that, despite this fact, clove contains gallic acid that just simply works well against the bacteria that cause receding gums.

I have a series of other products that my family members are trying in regard to their own personal tooth remineralization treatments and I’ll be updating the site with our experiences and information about these various products.

UPDATE 2023: My cavity went away after just a few months of treatment and now, I simply use a coconut oil, bentonite, Himalayan sea salt, sodium bicarbonate tooth paste instead of regular toothpaste to prevent cavities naturally. We brush our teeth with this mixture and it works very well. It took some getting used to, but now it's not a big deal at all. We all take 800 mcg of Nattokinase / vitamin K2 daily as well. I add clove oil or sometimes Thieves essential oil in the coconut oil toothpaste to improve the flavor and add a little extra antibacterial power to the mix. Also note that I take a daily cod liver oil supplement (a dessicated liver supplement would also work that does not contain added vitamin D) to ensure that I'm getting all of my fat-soluble vitamin needs met daily. An alternative to cod liver oil would be dessicated liver supplements, though be aware that taking high doses of organ meats daily could lead to gout in some individuals.

If you have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), or just regular bouts of heartburn, you'll want to work with this problem at the same time that you remineralize teeth and work on your receding gums because having acid reflux can eat away at your dental enamel. You can use DMSO and Patchouli Essential Oil to treat the Helicobacter pylori infection that is often at the root of GERD and acid reflux issues. Treating acid reflux to help teeth remineralize is possible using these various tools.

Herbs That Heal Dental Cavities

UPDATE: Althae officinalis / marshmallow root is an herb that is used extensively in Unani medicine to treat dental cavities. Indeed, this herb contains both calcium and phosphorus as well as iodine. One could put marshmallow root dried herb into a coconut oil toothpaste base to ensure that the toothpaste contains phosphorus as well as calcium, the two most important nutrients that the teeth need to remineralize and form strong enamel. Use a coffee grinder to make the herb into a very fine powder before combining it with coconut oil, Himalayan sea salt, Bentonite clay, and baking soda. Click here to read more about Althea officinalis. Also note that Acacia is an herb to get rid of plaque naturally. Chew the Acacia herb to get rid of plaque while taking daily doses of vitamin K2 / MK-7, and brushing with the coconut oil toothpaste.
