DMSO and Niacin (Vitamin B3) Protocol

A niacin flush is desirable if you're trying to treat a specific disease state caused by niacin deficiency.
Niacin, also known as vitamin B3 or nicotinic acid, is an important medicinal nutrient. In very high doses, this nutrient is often used to cure schizophrenia or other types of psychosis naturally, but niacin does many things. As a nutrient that interacts with the nicotinic receptors in the autonomic nervous system, niacin / nicotinic acid / vitamin B3 is able to help the body balance states of alertness with states of calmness especially in terms of the “felt sense” (a term coined by trauma-therapy Dr. Peter Levine), muscular pain and tension, and diseases and disorders involving issues with microcirculation. Importantly, dimethyl sulfoxide / DMSO is one of few solvents that can combine easily with vitamin B3 / niacin / nicotinic acid. Since both niacin and DMSO are able to heal the nervous system and regulate certain mental health issues, the use of DMSO and niacin together is an important protocol for healing that should be more widely known.

Indeed, nicotine patches often use DMSO to get nicotine through the skin so that people who want to quit smoking can simply apply a patch. Recently, cancer patients have discovered the nicotine patch for cancer as a way to resolve cancer symptoms that are not responding to other treatments. For cancer, nicotine patches are an at-home treatment that helps rebalance the autonomic nervous system. Patients who find that their cancer symptoms respond to the nicotine patch should look closely at models of cancer such as German New Medicine, which note the compelling relationship between major trauma and cancer development. Nicotine, the synthetic product that was created to mimic natural nicotinic acid / niacin / vitamin B3, helps stabilize the body-mind connection via the autonomic nervous system. Cancer patients tend to see a more permanentresolution of their symptoms through trauma-informed therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing / EMDR or even psilocybin therapy. But the use of niacin / vitamin B3 / nicotinic acid and DMSO can facilitate and enhance the effects of trauma-informed therapies like these.

Vitamin B3 / Nicotinic Acid / Niacin and the Autonomic Nervous System

Nicotinic acid is related to nicotine, the synthetic drug-form of this nutrient that has become famous as an ingredient in cigarettes. But the nutrient form of nicotine (niacin/ vitamin B3 / nicotinic acid) plays a vital role in our ability to relax and find balance in terms of mood and our state of alertness during the day. Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors are receptors that respond to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that is made from choline, another important nutrient in mental health and cognitive health, as well as the general health of vital organs like the liver . Synthetic nicotine and natural vitamin B3 both act as agonists of the nicotinic receptors in the autonomic nervous system. As “agonists”, or molecules that promote or enhance the action of nicotinic receptors, they are found through the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, in muscle tissues, and in a number of other human tissues.

The nicotinic receptors that are impacted by vitamin B3 are the main type of receptor that connects the nervous system to muscle tissues. As such, vitamin B3 plays a big role in pain control, particularly the control of pain due to muscle tension. Chronic muscle tension is often caused by trauma or an ongoing form of daily stress, but taking high-dose niacin can help people manage these issues.

In the peripheral nervous system, nicotinic receptors transmit signals between the fight-or-flight sympathetic nervous system and the rest-and-digest parasympathetic nervous system. As such, vitamin B3, as an agonist that enhances acetylcholine activity, helps to connect the mind to the body. Because trauma is stored as a body-issue or, one might say, as an issue in the mind-of-the-body, vitamin B3 taken in higher-than-usual-doses can help promote the mind-body connection so that trauma and stress can be relieved and released. As such, vitamin B3 is a nutrient for trauma release that can enhance the effects of trauma-informed therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing / EMDR, brain entrainment, psilocybin therapy for trauma, craniosacral therapy, and more.

In the immune system, the nicotinic receptors regulate health issues such as inflammation. As such, vitamin B3, as an agonist that promotes fluent activity at the nicotinic receptors, can help in the treatment of any disease or disorder that involves inflammation. This includes diseases and disorders such as cancer, scleroderma, arthritis, microcirculatory disorders, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, lupus, pemphigus, depression, and chronic pain.

How to Use Niacin and DMSO Together

Like vitamin B3, DMSO modulates acetylcholine nerve transmission. Indeed, DMSO also regulates glutamate nerve transmission. Because niacin and DMSO combine easily in solution, they can be used together to treat a wide range of health issues including:

Niacin-Deficiency Diseases That May Be Misdiagnosed as the Following:

  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • Colorectal Cancer
  • Lupus
  • Pemphigus
  • Skin cancer
  • Sun allergy

Gastrointestinal Issues:

  • Poor appetite
  • Nausea
  • Sour stomach
  • Hyper-salivation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Inflammation of the tongue
  • Soreness of the mouth
  • Dysphagia / difficulty swallowing
  • Watery diarrhea that is not caused by infection
  • Bloody or mucoid diarrhea that is not caused by infection

Skin Issues

  • Red, burning skin

Nervous System Issues

  • Fatigue
  • Lethargy
  • Apathy
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Irritability
  • Disorientation
  • Confusion
  • Delirium

Movement Issues

  • Muscle weakness
  • Paresthesia
  • Arthritis

If you plan to use niacin and DMSO together, be sure to find a niacin product that is pure without other added ingredients added. You don’t want DMSO to combine with toxic ingredients and take them deeply into the body. Always avoid plastics and metals when working with DMSO. Use glass bowls or drinking vessels and a wooden spoon to stir together mixtures of ingredients.

Do not use DMSO if you are taking prescription medications.

If you are combining DMSO with niacin, always start with a low-dose of niacin at first and work your way up to a higher dose that resolves your symptoms. Niacin is a powerful nutrient that causes a temporary red skin rash called a “flush”. The niacin rush can be uncomfortable at first, though it does lessen over time and people often have to increase their dose to continue to cause the flush. When you first start working with high-dose niacin and niacin with DMSO, you may feel uncomfortable and almost feverish during the flush. It will pass within about an hour though. This discomfort often occurs when the body has shut down the microcirculation in certain areas due to stress or trauma. After microcirculation is restored, the body often feels more relaxed and energized.

DMSO-Niacin Recipe

Oral DMSO-Niacin Recipe

Start with a low dose of niacin at 20 mg. Using a glass drinking vessel (to prevent the DMSO from dissolving plastics) combine it in a pure powder form with 5 drops of 99.99% pharmaceutical grade DMSO. Add 4 ounces of water to the glass and drink the mixture. Observe how your body responds to the niacin at this low dose. If the results are comfortable and tolerable in terms of the niacin flush, add 20 mg of niacin to your recipe daily. As you increase your niacin dose, increase the dose of DMSO by 5 drops at the same time.

Topical DMSO-Niacin Recipe

Once again, start with a low-dose of niacin at 20 mg. Add 5 drops of 99.99% pharmaceutical grade DMSO to the pure niacin powder in a glass bowl. Stir these two ingredients together using a wooden spoon and then apply the mixture to the skin using your fingers. Make sure you wash your hands first in a safe-for-DMSO soap
