I know that psoriasis and herpes are not the same thing, but they are both skin-related health problems. Like herpes, psoriasis is not just a skin-issue, but rather something that involves the liver and the kidneys. Many psoriasis sufferers have a lot of severe digestive issues and also arthritis. So psoriasis is not really just a skin disease any more than herpes is just a skin disease. Herpes sufferers often experience a lot of anxiety or depression, for example. Indeed, the theory is that stress and herpes flares go hand-in-hand. But in fact, herpes impacts the sympathetic nervous system – the part of our nervous system that recruits our fight-or-flight response. And the sympathetic nervous system is hard-wired to the melanin in our skin. The tiny little pixels of melanin that produce color in the skin and the “tanning” response when the skin is exposed to sunlight are attached directly to the sympathetic nervous system in much the same way as solar panels that attach directly to the electrical system of a house. The melanin acts to both protect the skin from harmful forms of radiation, but also capture beneficial forms of radiation from the sun and from the environment around us. So it is the presence of herpes within the sympathetic nervous system that can explain both the problem of sunlight exposure and herpes flares and stress exposure and herpes flares (stress, after all, is a type of fight-or-flight response).
If you’re still afraid of the sun, it might help for you to know that Dr. Johanna Budwig was a Nobel laureate who regularly cured cancer by having her patients consume the Budwig smoothie while sitting in the sun for 30 minutes several times per day. My own husband used sunlight exposure for 1 hour per day as part of a protocol like this to cure melanoma. So, while you’ve likely been brainwashed to believe that, in regard to herpes, sunlight is hurting you, the opposite is more likely true.

The shikimate pathway nutrients like tyrosine, for example, that no longer exist in GMO foods, impact how our bodies interact with sunlight. They also dictate much about how our bodies respond to stress. For example, tyrosine is an amino acid that our bodies require in order to produce thyroid hormones as well as dopamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline. Adrenaline is the famous fight-or-flight hormone. Without tyrosine, our adrenal glands can’t produce this hormone that works at the intersection of both the sympathetic nervous system and the endocrine system. Tryptophan is the amino acid that our bodies require to produce serotonin as well as melatonin. Without adequate serotonin and melatonin, the synergy of neurohormones that are supposed to be produced and released according to a delicate cycle in response to stress become deranged. Our stress response then also becomes “deranged”. Many of the herpes sufferers that we’ve worked with as clients definitely feel at times as though they’re “deranged” in terms of stress, anxiety, and depression. A diet high in GMO wheat, corn, and soy combined with exposure to glyphosate / RoundUp (these two things always occur together) creates the perfect storm in terms of nervous system diseases and disorders including herpes infection.
The shikimate pathway nutrients impact how a plant interacts with the sun and they also impact our bodies interact with the sun. If you’re trying to cure herpes, you need to pay attention to the shikimate pathway nutrients. You may need to do the Lugol’s iodine protocol for a year or longer to restore your immune system to normal functioning if you have been consuming GMO foods as a big part of your diet for a long time.
If you’re still not sure about sunlight as a healing tool, read a bit more here about something called “testicular tanning” to help men (and women) to naturally restore reproductive hormone levels and enhance fertility and libido. And then, it’s important that we wrap back around to the idea of toxins and heavy metals as poisonous substances that can cause melanin production to be altered and hijacked. Again, I should repeat the idea that both DMSO and methylsulfonylmethane / MSM salts (not the capsules) contain sulfur and sulfur is the most important nutrient used in the production of melanin. Herpes is a disease that is tied to melanin via the sympathetic nervous system which is just one branch of the autonomic nervous system. Melanin acts like a solar panel in the skin to absorb beneficial forms of radiation from the sun and from the environment.
Before I end this quick overview of how sunlight can help you overcome herpes if you feed your melanin nutrient forms of sulfur like methylsulfonylmethane / MSM salts and then spend time exposing the body to sunlight, we need to mention psilocybin, a substance found in magic mushrooms. As it turns out mushrooms and other fungi are experts on melanin production. Some fungi are so good at producing melanin that they’re able to easily survive in nuclear reactors because their melanin protects them like armor from harmful radiation while allowing those fungi to also absorb whatever beneficial forms of radiation exist in that environment so as to produce energy for survival. But psilocybin is special because it is a hallucinogenic substance that also heals the autonomic nervous system by releasing trauma that is literally stored in the sympathetic nervous system. A number of our health coaching clients who have worked with us to overcome herpes naturally have unresolved trauma that plays a role in herpes infection. Unresolved trauma makes us vulnerable to “triggers” that can set off a powerful stress response. The triggers are not conscious. We don’t know what the triggers are. So let’s talk about how to use DMSO to get rid of herpes at home. Once again, remember that DMSO helps to rebuild melanin in the skin, but melanin also exists in high quantities in certain parts of the inner ear, the eyes, and certain areas in the brain.
DMSO and Lugol’s Iodine 2%
DMSO combines very well with Lugol’s iodine. Lugol’s iodine is a nutrient substance that contains both molecular iodine and potassium iodide. The body needs both of these forms of iodine to function properly. Studies have compared honey and propolis versus acyclovir for herpes with compelling results. Propolis, in particular, is superior to acyclovir for herpes treatment. DMSO and Vitamin C for Herpes: Herpes Zoster / Shingles, Herpes Simplex, and Varicella Chicken Pox
Several studies have shown that ascorbic acid / vitamin C can be administered both internally and externally on herpes lesions to heal herpes flares more quickly and to prevent herpes infection.In one study, a cotton pad was soaked with a vitamin C solution and applied for 30 minutes 3 times daily for herpes ulcers. In the study, the number of daily with scabs and other symptoms of herpes flares were significantly lessened. For example, the average time that patients had scabbing was 3.4 days in the patients given vitamin C topical treatments versus 5.9 days in the patients who received no treatments. It’s really awesome that for herpes, vitamin C can improve the speed with which ulcers heal, but even more impressive is the fact that intravenous vitamin C was once used to successfully cure herpes infection in the mid-20th century.
High-dose vitamin C is extremely important in the treatment of all viral diseases, but for herpes, vitamin C at high doses can be the nutritional therapy that tips the scales. Ideally, patients should be given between 10,000-18,000 mg of vitamin C daily to cure herpes. Patients can take 6000 mg of vitamin C by mouth every 6-8 hours, but the digestive system is not always able to absorb this quantity of vitamin C. That’s why intravenous vitamin C can be so valuable as a nutrient cure for herpes. If you don’t have access or funding to get intravenous vitamin C therapy, use DMSO with vitamin C instead as a way to increase the dose if your digestive system won’t tolerate taking more than 6,000 mg of vitamin C per day.
Essentially, DMSO is used with vitamin C, in this case, to improve skin penetration of the vitamin C to get high doses of it into the bloodstream. As a general rule, it’s best to do intravenous vitamin C therapy for herpes, but in cases where intravenous vitamin C isn’t available or accessible for one reason or another, DMSO and vitamin C is another alternative way to administer this nutrient in high doses.

DMSO and Melissa officinalis: Herbal Remedy for Herpes
Studies have shown that Melissa officinalis, also known as Lemon Balm, can be used as an herbal remedy for herpes. In one study, for example, Melissa officinalis was used as a dried extract with only a 1% concentration to treat herpes simplex labialis. In this study, 66 patients with recurrent herpes infections (with at least 4 herpes flares per year) were treated topically with either Melissa officinalis or with a placebo. The Melissa officinalis herb was administered in an ointment during herpes flares four times daily for 5 days. In the treated patients, itching, tingling, burning, stabbing pain, inflammation, tautness and redness of the skin, were relieved. Also, the herpes ulcers didn’t spread in the same way in treated patients as they did in patients who were given the placebo.One of the advantages of working with an herbal remedy for herpes is the fact that herbs won’t cause viral resistance to treatment because herbs are a complex mix of medicinal agents. Antiviral medications are much simpler chemically than herbs which makes them easier to hijack and overcome by viruses like the herpes virus.

MSM salts are an alternative to DMSO. Both DMSO and MSM are penetration enhancers and both contain sulfur. They are nearly identical chemically. In herbal remedies, MSM is often used in combination with the herb or herbs to enhance the medicinal action of the remedy.As a topical treatment, Melissa officinalis can be combined with DMSO to increase the effectiveness of this herbal remedy for herpes. Make an herbal tea in a glass mug (DMSO is a solvent that dissolves many types of plastics) using 500 mg of Melissa officinalis in 1 mug of water. Add either 1000 mg of MSM salts to this tea or 100 drops of DMSO. Mix well and apply the “tea” to herpes sores topically.
You can also consume Melissa officinalis tea with MSM salts. Make a 500 mg tea as you did for the topical treatment. Add 1000 mg MSM salts and drink. Administer the tea 3 times daily as an herbal remedy for herpes.
Note that it Melissa officinalis can be used as an herbal remedy for herpes during pregnancy. DMSO and Aloe vera: Herbal Remedy for Herpes
Another DMSO combination treatment that has been studied is aloe and DMSO. Aloe vera, by itself, has been used topically to reduce inflammation, to kill the herpes virus, and to prevent secondary bacterial infections during herpes flares. AT 0.2 to 5% concentration, Aloe vera gel significantly inhibits HSV-1 viral growth as a topical treatment, but pure Aloe vera that does not contain additives can also be combined with DMSO to make it more powerful and more effective at treating herpes flares.Even better than Aloe vera though, is the combination of Aloe arborescens and DMSO. Aloe arborescens is much more powerful as a herpes herbal remedy than Aloe vera. These two plants are related, but they contain different concentrations of certain medicinal substances. If you a choice between using DMSO with Aloe vera or DMSO with Aloe arborescens as an herbal remedy for herpes, choose DMSO and Aloe arborescens. I know that psoriasis and herpes are not the same thing, but they are both skin-related health problems. Like herpes, psoriasis is not just a skin-issue, but rather something that involves the liver and the kidneys. Many psoriasis sufferers have a lot of severe digestive issues and also arthritis. So psoriasis is not really just a skin disease any more than herpes is just a skin disease. Herpes sufferers often experience a lot of anxiety or depression, for example. Indeed, the theory is that stress and herpes flares go hand-in-hand. But in fact, herpes impacts the sympathetic nervous system – the part of our nervous system that recruits our fight-or-flight response. And the sympathetic nervous system is hard-wired to the melanin in our skin. The tiny little pixels of melanin that produce color in the skin and the “tanning” response when the skin is exposed to sunlight are attached directly to the sympathetic nervous system in much the same way as solar panels that attach directly to the electrical system of a house. The melanin acts to both protect the skin from harmful forms of radiation, but also capture beneficial forms of radiation from the sun and from the environment around us. So it is the presence of herpes within the sympathetic nervous system that can explain both the problem of sunlight exposure and herpes flares and stress exposure and herpes flares (stress, after all, is a type of fight-or-flight response).
If you’re still afraid of the sun, it might help for you to know that Dr. Johanna Budwig was a Nobel laureate who regularly cured cancer by having her patients consume the Budwig smoothie while sitting in the sun for 30 minutes several times per day. My own husband used sunlight exposure for 1 hour per day as part of a protocol like this to cure melanoma. So, while you’ve likely been brainwashed to believe that, in regard to herpes, sunlight is hurting you, the opposite is more likely true.
If you have not already read about how GMO food products no longer go through the shikimate pathway to produce essential nutrients like vitamin K1, vitamin K2, coenzyme Q10, tyrosine, tryptophan, and more, click here to read more about this problem. The shikimate pathway nutrients like tyrosine, for example, that no longer exist in GMO foods, impact how our bodies interact with sunlight. They also dictate much about how our bodies respond to stress. For example, tyrosine is an amino acid that our bodies require in order to produce thyroid hormones as well as dopamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline. Adrenaline is the famous fight-or-flight hormone. Without tyrosine, our adrenal glands can’t produce this hormone that works at the intersection of both the sympathetic nervous system and the endocrine system. Tryptophan is the amino acid that our bodies require to produce serotonin as well as melatonin. Without adequate serotonin and melatonin, the synergy of neurohormones that are supposed to be produced and released according to a delicate cycle in response to stress become deranged. Our stress response then also becomes “deranged”. Many of the herpes sufferers that we’ve worked with as clients definitely feel at times as though they’re “deranged” in terms of stress, anxiety, and depression. A diet high in GMO wheat, corn, and soy combined with exposure to glyphosate / RoundUp (these two things always occur together) creates the perfect storm in terms of nervous system diseases and disorders including herpes infection.
The shikimate pathway nutrients impact how a plant interacts with the sun and they also impact our bodies interact with the sun. If you’re trying to cure herpes, you need to pay attention to the shikimate pathway nutrients. You may need to do the Lugol’s iodine protocol for a year or longer to restore your immune system to normal functioning if you have been consuming GMO foods as a big part of your diet for a long time.
If you’re still not sure about sunlight as a healing tool, read a bit more here about something called “testicular tanning” to help men (and women) to naturally restore reproductive hormone levels and enhance fertility and libido. And then, it’s important that we wrap back around to the idea of toxins and heavy metals as poisonous substances that can cause melanin production to be altered and hijacked. An extreme example of this is autism, a disease that has been linked to low levels of melanin and also heavy metal toxicity and toxicities related to exposure to other poisonous substances. Again, I should repeat the idea that both DMSO and methylsulfonylmethane / MSM salts (not the capsules) contain sulfur and sulfur is the most important nutrient used in the production of melanin. Herpes is a disease that is tied to melanin via the sympathetic nervous system which is just one branch of the autonomic nervous system. Melanin acts like a solar panel in the skin to absorb beneficial forms of radiation from the sun and from the environment.
Before I end this quick overview of how sunlight can help you overcome herpes if you feed your melanin nutrient forms of sulfur like methylsulfonylmethane / MSM salts and then spend time exposing the body to sunlight, we need to mention psilocybin, a substance found in magic mushrooms. As it turns out mushrooms and other fungi are experts on melanin production. Some fungi are so good at producing melanin that they’re able to easily survive in nuclear reactors because their melanin protects them like armor from harmful radiation while allowing those fungi to also absorb whatever beneficial forms of radiation exist in that environment so as to produce energy for survival. But psilocybin is special because it is a hallucinogenic substance that also heals the autonomic nervous system by releasing trauma that is literally stored in the sympathetic nervous system. A number of our health coaching clients who have worked with us to overcome herpes naturally have unresolved trauma that plays a role in herpes infection. Unresolved trauma makes us vulnerable to “triggers” that can set off a powerful stress response. The triggers are not conscious. We don’t know what the triggers are. So let’s talk about how to use DMSO to get rid of herpes at home. Once again, remember that DMSO helps to rebuild melanin in the skin, but melanin also exists in high quantities in certain parts of the inner ear, the eyes, and certain areas in the brain.
DMSO and Lugol’s Iodine 2%
DMSO combines very well with Lugol’s iodine. Lugol’s iodine is a nutrient substance that contains both molecular iodine and potassium iodide. The body needs both of these forms of iodine to function properly. The reproductive organs and thyroid gland are particularly greedy for iodine but this nutrient is actually used by most of the organs of the body.Iodine belongs to a class of nutrients that has been systematically excluded from the food supply in certain developed nations. Studies have compared honey and propolis versus acyclovir for herpes with compelling results. Propolis, in particular, is superior to acyclovir for herpes treatment. In fact honey for herpes ulcers also had a better healing effect than acyclovir. Honey, by itself, induced complete healing of herpes ulcers within 8-9 days after beginning treatment. DMSO and Vitamin C for Herpes: Herpes Zoster / Shingles, Herpes Simplex, and Varicella Chicken Pox
Several studies have shown that ascorbic acid / vitamin C can be administered both internally and externally on herpes lesions to heal herpes flares more quickly and to prevent herpes infection.In one study, a cotton pad was soaked with a vitamin C solution and applied for 30 minutes 3 times daily for herpes ulcers. In the study, the number of daily with scabs and other symptoms of herpes flares were significantly lessened. For example, the average time that patients had scabbing was 3.4 days in the patients given vitamin C topical treatments versus 5.9 days in the patients who received no treatments. It’s really awesome that for herpes, vitamin C can improve the speed with which ulcers heal, but even more impressive is the fact that intravenous vitamin C was once used to successfully cure herpes infection in the mid-20th century.
High-dose vitamin C is extremely important in the treatment of all viral diseases, but for herpes, vitamin C at high doses can be the nutritional therapy that tips the scales. Ideally, patients should be given between 10,000-18,000 mg of vitamin C daily to cure herpes. Patients can take 6000 mg of vitamin C by mouth every 6-8 hours, but the digestive system is not always able to absorb this quantity of vitamin C. That’s why intravenous vitamin C can be so valuable as a nutrient cure for herpes. If you don’t have access or funding to get intravenous vitamin C therapy, use DMSO with vitamin C instead as a way to increase the dose if your digestive system won’t tolerate taking more than 6,000 mg of vitamin C per day.
Essentially, DMSO is used with vitamin C, in this case, to improve skin penetration of the vitamin C to get high doses of it into the bloodstream. As a general rule, it’s best to do intravenous vitamin C therapy for herpes, but in cases where intravenous vitamin C isn’t available or accessible for one reason or another, DMSO and vitamin C is another alternative way to administer this nutrient in high doses.

DMSO and Melissa officinalis: Herbal Remedy for Herpes
Studies have shown that Melissa officinalis, also known as Lemon Balm, can be used as an herbal remedy for herpes. In one study, for example, Melissa officinalis was used as a dried extract with only a 1% concentration to treat herpes simplex labialis. In this study, 66 patients with recurrent herpes infections (with at least 4 herpes flares per year) were treated topically with either Melissa officinalis or with a placebo. The Melissa officinalis herb was administered in an ointment during herpes flares four times daily for 5 days. In the treated patients, itching, tingling, burning, stabbing pain, inflammation, tautness and redness of the skin, were relieved. Also, the herpes ulcers didn’t spread in the same way in treated patients as they did in patients who were given the placebo.One of the advantages of working with an herbal remedy for herpes is the fact that herbs won’t cause viral resistance to treatment because herbs are a complex mix of medicinal agents. Antiviral medications are much simpler chemically than herbs which makes them easier to hijack and overcome by viruses like the herpes virus.

MSM salts are an alternative to DMSO. Both DMSO and MSM are penetration enhancers and both contain sulfur. They are nearly identical chemically. In herbal remedies, MSM is often used in combination with the herb or herbs to enhance the medicinal action of the remedy.As a topical treatment, Melissa officinalis can be combined with DMSO to increase the effectiveness of this herbal remedy for herpes. Make an herbal tea in a glass mug (DMSO is a solvent that dissolves many types of plastics) using 500 mg of Melissa officinalis in 1 mug of water. Add either 1000 mg of MSM salts to this tea or 100 drops of DMSO. Mix well and apply the “tea” to herpes sores topically.
You can also consume Melissa officinalis tea with MSM salts. Make a 500 mg tea as you did for the topical treatment. Add 1000 mg MSM salts and drink. Administer the tea 3 times daily as an herbal remedy for herpes.
Note that it Melissa officinalis can be used as an herbal remedy for herpes during pregnancy. DMSO and Aloe vera: Herbal Remedy for Herpes
Another DMSO combination treatment that has been studied is aloe and DMSO. Aloe vera, by itself, has been used topically to reduce inflammation, to kill the herpes virus, and to prevent secondary bacterial infections during herpes flares. AT 0.2 to 5% concentration, Aloe vera gel significantly inhibits HSV-1 viral growth as a topical treatment, but pure Aloe vera that does not contain additives can also be combined with DMSO to make it more powerful and more effective at treating herpes flares.Even better than Aloe vera though, is the combination of Aloe arborescens and DMSO. Aloe arborescens is much more powerful as a herpes herbal remedy than Aloe vera. These two plants are related, but they contain different concentrations of certain medicinal substances. If you a choice between using DMSO with Aloe vera or DMSO with Aloe arborescens as an herbal remedy for herpes, choose DMSO and Aloe arborescens. Combine DMSO at a 70% concentration with pure Aloe arborescens at 30% concentration. Administer this combination directly to herpes ulcers.
