Houttuynia cordata as an Herbal Remedy for HSV-1
Houttuynia cordata extract contains houttuynoid A and houttuynoid M, two flavinoids that have inhibitory effects against Herpes Simplex Virus-1 / HSV-1. These flavonoids can prevent the multiplication of HSV-1 and also stop herpes lesion formation. Some scientists have combined Houttuynia cordata with Bidens pilosa to cure HSV. In one study, a hot water extract of Bidens pilosa and Houttuynia cordata at a concentration of 20% for both HSV-1 and HSV-2 had significant effects against herpes. But scientists noted that, at a concentration of 33%, Houttuynia cordata as a hot water extract by itself had an effect that was just as powerful as the use of Houttunyia cordata with Bidens pilosa. They noted, however, that Houttuynia cordata by itself had a better, more powerful effect against HSV-2 than against HSV-1.
Houttuynia cordata as an Herbal Remedy for SARS
