Piracetam: Cure Chronic Pain Cure and Reduce Allergy Symptoms
Piracetam is a nootropic that has also been used to reduce pain and inflammation in chronic pain disorders like fibromyalgia. It works through various mechanisms of action including through the modulation of histamine levels, by reducing myeloperoxidase activity, reducing IL-1beta production, and by reducing oxidative stress.
Chronic Pain and Inflammation: Piracetam
Inflammatory pain results from cytokine production, neutrophil migration, oxidative stress, and prostanoid release. Piracetam provides pain relief by modulating all of these factors. It has been used in animal studies to reduce neuropathic pain, albeit, at very high doses (200 mg/kg body weight). Piracetam often requires a fairly high dose in order to be effective at controlling chronic pain.Studies have shown that piracetam improves mitochondrial function and the fluidity of mitochondrial membranes. Piracetam enhances ATP synthesis (the production of energy) within cells, which in turn, helps cells heal. Improving membrane fluidity enhances cell functioning in a general way. In brain cells, piracetam improves neuroplasticity and is especially beneficial as an anti-aging medicine.
