There are few herbs that can match what acetaminophen, ibuprofen, aspirin, and diclofenac can do in terms of reducing fever, inflammation, and for pain relief. Kratom stands out as one of the most important non-toxic, natural fever-reducing, pain-killing herbs. It is a powerful herb, yet it is relatively safe at the low doses that we recommend here for children.
It’s important to recognize that teething is a serious life-stage that can be incredibly challenging for parents as well as babies. Cutting teething is excruciatingly painful for infants. So parents are faced with the dilemma of whether to administer an NSAID, acetaminophen, or paracetamol, or allow their child to suffer in pain. Some children actually have small seizures as a result of the pain of teething so pain control is a priority and not just a luxury. Babies who are suffering and in pain equate to parents who are also suffering due to lack of sleep and lack of down-time. Babies who are afflicted with constant teething pain are also less able to learn new things. So it’s important for parents to have a resource that they can count on to relieve teething pain naturally. Kratom is an important herbal remedy for teething pain as well as for ADHD. This is an herbal remedy for cancer and for diabetes that can be safely used in children.

Kratom resolves the dilemma about whether to administer toxic pain-killers to babies or let the baby suffer. Ideally, as a parent, you would administer a different “vein color” day-by-day on a three day cycle (red, green, yellow / gold). Kratom can be mildly addictive, similar to the way coffee can be addictive, but by giving the child a different vein color on a 3 day cycle, addiction can be avoided completely. Each of the veins has a very different profile, so the body doesn’t develop a tolerance when children are given a different vein on a 3-day cycle. Choose red Maeng Da or red dragon for ADHD or as a day-time strain. Red hulu and red Bali are both more sedative kratom strains that can be used at night.
Kratom Basics
NOTE: Don’t administer Mitragyna speciosa to children who will later be doing gymnastics or other activities that involve speed. Do not combine Mitragyna speciosa with NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, diclofenac, etc.), antidepressants, or MAOIs or SSRIs. This includes methylene blue. M. speciosa should not be taken with methylene blue.
Mitragyna speciosa, also known as kratom, is a powerful herbal pain-reliever that works remarkably well to kill dental pain, in particular teething pain in children. It is not itself an opiate drug, but M. speciosa does interact with the opioid receptors in the body. This interaction between M. speciosa and the opioid receptors not only reduces pain, but it can also control blood sugar levels in children with diabetes. In children who have balanced blood sugar levels, M. speciosa will produce no change.
- speciosa is also a powerful anticancer medicine. It is highly recommended as an herbal remedy for cancer that also reduces pain. Kratom is one of the most important and most powerful herbs for children that we talk about here. But if you’re new to this herb, be aware that it has been thoroughly demonized online in an effort by Big Pharma to cover it up. Nonetheless, in the scientific literature, kratom and its medicinal substances are being researched feverishly by Big Pharma. Scientists are aware that kratom is a valuable and very safe herbal remedy for serious diseases like diabetes and cancer and that this is one of the most important natural pain-killing medicines currently known to man. But the propaganda steers people away from using it. If you’re searching for safer alternatives to acetaminophen or ibuprofen for your child, take some time to learn about kratom.

Kratom: Herbal Remedy for Teething Pain
For healthy children, Mitragyna speciosa can be extremely valuable in the treatment of teething pain for babies as well as fevers. It is a much safer option than Tylenol for young children and it works very well to eliminate the excruciating pain that children experience when their teeth come in.
Mitragyna speciosa is remarkably safe and it works very well for natural pain control for patients of all ages, in fact. M. speciosa is one of the most powerful of the pain-controlling, fever-reducing herbs that can safely be given to young children. It is far safer than opiates and in fact, people who are addicted to opiates often use kratom to stop their opiate addiction. But Big Pharma has worked hard to cover up the benefits of kratom because this herb can be used to treat cancer and it also has the potential to destroy the opiate-industry. Kratom is powerfully antidiabetic so it threatens the diabetes industry as well. So it makes sense that Big Pharma would invest a lot of money into producing propaganda to scare people away from it.
If you giving your child kratom for teething pain control be sure to use capsules for older children rather than administering kratom as a tea to ensure that you get a consistent, adequate dose – also keep in mind that kratom is quite bitter, so it’s more pleasant to take it in capsule-form, if possible. For very young children, administer powdered kratom in raw honey to cover up the bitter taste. Give your child plenty of water throughout the day when he or she is taking kratom and administer ¼ to ½ teaspoon of a magnesium citrate supplement as well (equivalent to 100 to 400 mg) once daily in water. Give younger children a lower dose of magnesium citrate. . Kratom is safe for use in children older than 1 year of age. The use of kratom for teething pains in children is discussed more below.
Kratom: Herbal Remedy for ADHD
For children, the most important natural ADHD medicine is The Mucuna pruriens Protocol. The book, The Mucuna Pruriens Protocol at AlivenHealthy.com details this protocol which includes nutrient supplements and other herbs. But kratom is another medicine that can be used as an herbal remedy for ADHD.
In our experience, Mucuna pruriens and the supporting nutrients are foundational in the treatment of ADHD. This protocol heals the dopamine-system in the body while simultaneously treating the symptoms of ADHD. But some children with ADHD can benefit tremendously from kratom administration in addition to the Mucuna protocol. Kratom, after all, has blood sugar-lowering effects which can make children calmer and it is also an inflammation and pain-reducing medicine.
Some children with ADHD need to address opioid-related imbalances. While Mucuna pruriens can balance the dopamine-system, kratom balances opioid-system responses to the environment and to pain.
For children with ADHD, low doses of kratom are important. Kratom produces a stimulant-like effect at low doses below 5 grams per day for adults. At higher doses, kratom produces a sedative-like effect. Children respond paradoxically in comparison to adults to stimulants. For example, while an adult might become wired and jittery when given too much coffee, a child will fall asleep. So the stimulant effects of kratom can be beneficial for children with ADHD and produce a mental “slowing” and additional focus.
Administer 0.25 to 0.5 grams of kratom every 4 to 6 hours during the day for children with ADHD.
Kratom Dosing
IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT combine kratom with Tylenol or any other pharmaceutical medication. If you decide to alternate between Tylenol and kratom for teething pains or growing pains, administer the Tylenol first and then only give the kratom 6 hours AFTER giving the Tylenol. This gives the body a chance to metabolize and excrete acetaminophen from the system, which reduces the risk of acetaminophen poisoning.
We don’t recommend administering kratom until your child is old enough to use a few words to communicate about how they feel, and until they can walk relatively well (older than 1 year). Give the first dose of kratom to your child during the daytime hours to observe their response to it.
For children over the age of 18 months, give 0.25 grams of kratom about every 4-6 hours. Alternate among 3 different vein-colors (red, green, and yellow) with each dose. For severe teething pains, an additional 0.25 grams can be administered after the first 0.25 gram dose if your child is still in pain within an hour after the first dose. In children between 12-18 months, start with 0.15 grams, and again, add another 0.15 grams after 1 hour if needed. Use a gram scale to measure the dose and administer the powder in raw honey.
These doses are also relevant for treating children with cancer or diabetes.
For children who are struggling with teething or growing pains or fever, yellow vein kratom can be used during the daytime hours, and red veins (especially Red Hulu and Red Bali) can be used either during the day or at night. Red Hulu and Red Bali have sedative effects. Some children do also benefit from green veins during daytime hours, but yellow veins are ideal since these are most likely to be pain-relieving without being overly sedative. For sleep problems, use only the red veins. Get a few different yellow and red vein “strains” of kratom and alternate which ones you use to reduce the risk of a tolerance developing if you’re giving your child kratom on a daily basis or several times every day. Give your child days off from the kratom whenever possible, and supplement with NAC to support liver health (NAC powder can easily and safely be added into juices or milk, even for very young babies; use ¼ of the adult dose for infants ages 6-12 months, and ½ of the adult dose for children over 12 months).
NAC to Maintain Healthy Glutathione Levels in the Liver
Give your child N-Acetylcysteine / NAC to support liver health while dosing with kratom to keep the liver healthy. NAC is a precursor to glutathione, the primary detoxifying agent in the body. It is used to prevent and treat liver injury caused by other medications too.Kratom is extremely safe when given at the proper dose. In very high doses for prolonged periods of time, however, it can cause acute hepatitis. When administering kratom even at low doses to a young child, NAC can also be given to ensure that the liver stays healthy as an extra precautionary measure.
