Herbal Remedy for Herpes, Chicken Pox, and Human Papillomavirus - Gum Arabic (Vachellia nilotica / Acacia nilotica)

Vachellia nilotica, a plant that belongs to the Acacia genus, also known as Acacia nilotica,  is widely used in Asia and Africa to treat a number of health problems. In Ayurveda, it is known as “Babula”, “Babool” or “Babbula”.

Acacia nilotica is used in the treatment of several sexually transmitted diseases like herpes simplex virus (HSV), and human papillomavirus (HPV). The water extract and methanolic extracts of Vachellia nilotica have antiviral activity against HSV-2 and HPV-16. The methanolic extract performs the best against these viral infections though. If you’re going to work with this herb, be sure to use an alcohol extract.

Vachellia nilotica works as an herbal remedy for acyclovir-resistant HSV-2. Also, scientific investigations have shown that the methanolic extract of Vachellia nilotica directly inactivates infectivity of HPV. In HSV-2 and HSV-1, antiviral action happens through partial virus inactivation combined with interference of virus attachment.

In addition to its value as an herbal remedy for HPV, HSV-1, and HSV-2, Vachellia nilotica is also used to treat chickenpox / Varicella Zoster virus and Hepatitis A infection.

Acacia nilotica / Vachellia nilotica: Herbal Remedy for Drug-Resistant HSV

Drug-resistance is a major problem for conventional medicine when doctors try to treat a disease like HSV. First-line antiviral therapy often doesn’t work. The more doctors prescribe drugs like acyclovir, the less likely it is for them to effectively treat herpes. But herbs are different. Herbs are much more complex biochemically than synthetic drugs. Their complexity makes them harder for viruses and bacteria to hijack and resist. Vachellia nilotica is no exception.

Most of the studies into the use of herbs for HSV (about 85%) test herbal remedies on a drug-resistant HSV strain in an effort to find new lead agents for drugs that could be developed to treat (and not cure) herpes. But many of these studies demonstrate how well whole herbs work to cure this disease. The trick is to find a protocol using herbs, essential oils, homeopathy or another treatment that has the ability to kill herpes viruses, and stick to it for at least 1 year. To get rid of herpes permanently, you need to work with a consistent protocol over a longer period of time (like 6-12 months at least).

Obviously drug-resistance in herpes treatment is a major issue, but only in conventional medicine. Outside of conventional medicine, HSV treatment as it turns out, has a 92% rate of effectiveness even for drug-resistant strains of the virus. Indeed, most of the patients who are affected by drug-resistant HSV are immunocompromised. If you have poor immunity, autoimmune disease, or any other immune system issue, consider working with the Lugol’s Iodine Protocol to rebuild the immune system as a part of your HSV cure.

Acacia nilotica / Vachellia nilotica Essential Oil for HSV

Bark and fruit essential oils derived from Acacia nilotica / Vachellia nilotica have antiviral effects against HSV. An essential oil derived from the bark of the Acacia nilotica tree is more effective as an antiviral agent than essential oil derived from the fruits.

Vachellia nilotica: Topical Treatment for Herpes Lesions

Vachellia nilotica is applied externally as a topical treatment for herpes lesions. Combine this topical remedy to get rid of herpes lesions with other herbal remedies that should be administered separately as oral, internal treatments.

The stem bark is made into a fine powder and then combined with honey. It should sit in the honey for 3-5 days before administration. It should be stirred every day. Administer 5-6 grams of the powder twice daily after eating.
