Cerebrolysin for Diabetic Neuropathy
Cerebrolysin is a peptide solution that contains biologically active peptides and free amino acids. It is one of few medications that has a very high success rate at curing autism / ASD. It also has the ability to restore healthy brain function after stroke or traumatic brain injury. Cerebrolysin has been used with success to treat various forms of dementia like Alzheimer’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In short, this is medication that has powerful healing effects on the nervous system which supports its usefulness in treating diabetic neuropathy.
In some countries, it's possible to get Cerebrolysin over-the-counter. In the U.S., though, you have to find a doctor to administer this type of medicine for diabetic neuropathy.
Cerebrolysin for Diabetic Neuropathy: Research Study #1
Because Cerebrolysin has such a positive effect on the nervous system in those with autism / ASD, scientists have also been curious about using this medicine for diabetic neuropathy to see if it could reduce pain and restore proper nervous system function. In one study, Cerebrolysin was used to treat 10 type 2 diabetes patients. The patients each received a daily Cerebrolysin infusion for 10 days at a dose of 20 mL in a 500 mL Ringer.

As a general rule, Cerebrolysin is administered daily for a short period of time and then it is discontinued for a little while. It can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly but it’s important that it is administered very slowly in any case. Sometimes the treatment is given two or three times with a few months in between treatment cycles, but in the study we’re describing here, the treatment was administered only once for 10 days. Patient progress was then followed for 6 weeks to determine whether the treatment reduced the pain of the diabetic neuropathy.A control group of 10 diabetic patients was used to compare the Cerebrolysin effects. In the control group, patients received vitamin B infusions for 10 days instead of Cerebrolysin. Patient pain in both the experimental and the control group was measured in terms of magnitude of pain, abnormal sensations, worsening of pain at night, and sleep disturbances. Cerebrolysin was associated with a significant decrease in pain scores. Patients reported that while their pain started at an 8.7 +/- 1.9 it ended at a 5.1 +/- 2.2 when the study concluded 6 weeks later. It’s important to note that Cerebrolysin was only administered for the first 10 days of treatment, but the study followed patients for 6 weeks suggesting a healing effect on the nerves that led to a lessening of pain.
Cerebrolysin for Diabetic Neuropathy: Research Study #2
In another study, 39 out of 78 patients with diabetic neuropathy were given Cerebrolysin while the 39 remaining patients in the control group took milgamma. The study measured neuropathy symptoms and neural dysfunction to determine whether Cerebrolysin had an impact on symptoms or not. Both diabetes type 1 patients and diabetes type 2 patients were represented in this study. The final results showed that Cerebrolysin has a powerful therapeutic impact on diabetic neuropathy in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Cerebrolysin for Diabetes: Research Study #3
As a metabolic disorder, diabetes has a general impact on brain and nervous system function. Peripheral and central nervous system function is altered by the changes that take place when diabetes mellitus takes shape. Cerebrolysin promotes neuronal plasticity and it acts as a neuroprotective and neurorepair agent with the following effects:- Cerebrolysin improves the architecture of neurons
- It improves the spine density of pyramidal neurons in the prefrontal cortex and in the hippocampus
- It heals spheroidal neurons of the dentate gyrus.
In an animal model of diabetes and hyperglycemia, Cerebrolysin did not alter the blood sugar levels of the diabetic animals, however, it did heal various aspects of the nervous system to reduce pain, inflammation, and neuropathy. Cerebrolysin has a generally healing effect on the nervous system tissues and it can be used to permanently get rid of chronic neuropathic pain.

Cerebrolysin for Diabetic Neuropathy: Research Study #4
In one in vitro study, scientists removed the dorsal root ganglia (cells that play an important role in neuropathic pain) from adult rats to observe the protective effects of Cerebrolysin in the presence of high blood sugar levels. In the study, different concentrations of Cerebrolysin (2 to 40 mg / mL) were administered along with high concentrations of blood sugar to dorsal root ganglia. The Cerebrolysin significantly diminished the damage done to the dorsal root ganglia and allowed these cells to maintain function and survival as well as neurite growth.Summary
Studies have consistently shown that Cerebrolysin can significantly reduce neuropathy pain in diabetic patients and it works by healing nervous system tissues rather than by covering up the pain.Click here to subscribe to the Living Database now.
