Blue Lotus as a Treatment for PTSD
Warning: Never take an adrenergic receptor antagonist with blue lotus or nuciferine products. Also, do not drink alcohol or take cannabis products within 24 hours of consuming nuciferine or blue lotus products. Blue lotus, also known as the Blue Nile Flower or the Sacred Blue Lily of the Nile, contains two important substances that can be useful in treating PTSD:- Nuciferine
- Apomorphine
Nuciferine
Nuciferine is derived from the blue lotus plant. Blue lotus tea is an excellent relaxant that causes a mild high. The high is subtle and comfortable though. Some people compare it to a THC high. It has natural antispasmodic properties that help reduce stress and anxiety. The tea contains vitamin B complex along with L-carotene.Nuciferine, of course, is a substance that is derived from the blue lotus plant. Nuciferine does NOT cause people to get high. Though it contributes to the sense of centeredness that blue lotus creates, nuciferine does not cause people to feel high.
Note that the use of blue lotus should NOT be combined with cannabis use or the use of other sedative herbs or medications such as alcohol. It also should be used with adrenergic receptor antagonists.

Apomorphine
The apomorphine found in blue lotus acts as a dopamine agonist. In other words, apomorphine supports the actions of dopamine and activates the dopamine receptors in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus as well as in the limbic system (the area of the brain that is most involved in PTSD symptoms). It also increases blood flow to an area of the brain known as the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex that can get shut off from the blood supply to some extent by trauma.
Apomorphine causes the smooth muscles to relax. When the smooth muscles in the blood vessels relax, this increases blood flow to the penis and to the vagina. As such, the apomorphine in blue lotus can be used to treat sexual dysfunctions such as erectile dysfunction. The whole blue lotus flower contain apomorphine and can be used as an herbal treatment for erectile dysfunction or for low libido in women.

Diabetic patients drink blue lotus tea or take a tincture to keep blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels balanced.
As an immune system regulator, blue lotus works well to prevent infection. And as an herb that reduces anxiety by regulating the sympathetic nervous system, it also can help get rid of chronic skin rashes. For skin rash, it can be helpful to administer blue lotus essential oil as 1 drop per 1 teaspoon of carrier oil.

Blue Lotus and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for PTSD
If you or someone you love are suffering from PTSD, consider working with Blue Lotus and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) from the comfort of your own home. EMDR is a very safe, very gentle therapy that involves movements of the eyes that mimics the movements the eyes make during REM sleep. REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep is the type of sleep that allows us to process information and experiences from the days prior. People with PTSD often do not experience REM sleep, or they experience only short periods of REM sleep. This leads to a buildup of trauma that can't be properly "digested" and then released by the body. EMDR is a system of therapy that allows a person to focus on a specific experience and then watch a dot move across the screen such that the eyes go back and forth. This eye movement, releases pressure on the cranial nerves via tension that they exert against the skull bones to move the skull bones into place such that those cranial nerves can pass unimpeded through the foreamen / holes in the skull bones that provide their passage to the rest of the body. This at home PTSD therapy is simple and elegant, but powerful.Click here to do a free trial of EMDR online.
Blue Lotus can alleviate anxiety, but if you suffer from PTSD, this plant can also help you process your trauma. It regulates dopamine receptors to keep delusions and hallucinations at bay which can be problematic for people who are in the beginning stages of PTSD treatment. As unconscious trauma becomes conscious, some people develop symptoms of psychosis, but Blue Lotus can help reduce these symptoms and promote tranquility. Over time, as more and more trauma is released from the autonomic nervous system, Blue Lotus treatments can be diminished.
