In this discussion, we expand on some of the most powerful natural treatments for male infertility. These treatments each address more than one item on the male infertility cause list above and they can and should be used together as an Infertility Healing Protocol that will also improve general health.
Infertility and Recurrent Respiratory Infection in Men
Men who have had recurrent respiratory infections have likely taken a lot of pharmaceuticals that contain bromide / bromine. Drugs that contain bromine / bromide are sold both as prescription and as over-the-counter medications. These drugs cause a variety of health issues including infertility in men. Learn more here about which drugs contain bromine / bromide and how these drugs cause infertility in men. Most doctors don’t even realize how bromine / bromide impacts health and often, bromide / bromine is not even listed as an ingredient in pharmaceutical medications. If you take over-the-counter or prescription drugs of any kind, be aware that some of them may contain toxic, unlisted ingredients that cause infertility in men.In men who are deficient in iodine, which includes most men in developed countries, bromine / bromide is able to hijack iodine receptor sites to wreak havoc on the reproductive organs and the reproductive hormones. While men who are not deficient in iodine (as Lugol’s iodine), are less vulnerable to the effects of bromine / bromide, this substance should still be avoided at all cost in those who are looking for a natural treatment for male fertility issues.
Bromine / bromide is added to a lot of pharmaceuticals because of its ability to masquerade as iodine in the body. Iodine, after all, is the most important expectorant and lung-healing nutrient on earth. It is a cure for asthma and other serious respiratory diseases that works, in part, by causing reproductive hormone levels to become balanced. Read more about Lugol’s iodine as a cure for asthma here.
Unfortunately, many patients with lung disease go to a doctor to get prescription medications that contain bromide / bromine. These medications may work at first before the body realizes that bromide / bromine is not iodine. Then, they stop working and the patients with respiratory disease are sicker than they were before and therefore more dependent on these medications. Substances like bromine / bromine cause a downward spiral to ensue. This downward spiral continues until the patient realizes that the medication, in addition to bromine / bromide exposure from the environment, is what’s causing the illness.
Lugol’s iodine 2% is the supplement that every man with fertility issues, sexual dysfunction, low libido, or low testosterone levels needs. It is a nutrient deficiency that is built into the food supply by the government and Big Food to cause health issues like male infertility. Lugol’s iodine is the go-to medicine for serious reproductive organ cancers and it can be used to cure testicular cancer and prostate cancer naturally. Read more about the use of Lugol’s iodine 2% as a cure for prostate cancer and other reproductive organ cancers here.
Lugol’s Iodine and Sexually Transmitted Disease
If you are iodine deficient, you may be more vulnerable to Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) / Sexually Transmitted Disease (STDs). You may tend to develop treatment-resistant infections as a result of deficiency. Iodine can sometimes be used to repair damage to tubules in the reproductive system that have been caused by infectious agents like chlamydia.Infertility Caused by Antibodies against Sperm
Lugol’s iodine is also often used in the treatment of autoimmune disease and situations in which the immune system is “deranged” or behaving strangely.Lugol’s Iodine Dosage and Administration Guidelines as a Natural Cure for Male Infertility
In order to be successful in detoxifying the body from bromide / bromine first, men who wish to use Lugol’s iodine 2% to cure infertility should start by taking the following supportive nutrients at least 2 weeks before beginning supplementation with Lugol’s:- Vitamin C – 2000 to 5000 mgs/day – take this supplement 4 to 6 hours AFTER iodine
- Selenium – 200 to 400 mcg/day – (assists with detoxification and thyroid secretion)
- Unrefined salt / Celtic or Himalayan sea salt – ½ tsp/day in ½ c. water followed by 12 oz. of water – the salt binds to bromine and assists in detoxification
- Magnesium – 400 - 600 mg/day
- Vitamin B3 - 500 mg per day - This nutrient is also essential for those with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. It is also very beneficial for those without a known thyroid issues.
- Vitamin B2 - 400 mg per day - This nutrient dosage is absolutely essential for anyone with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. It can be extremely beneficial to those without thyroid problems.
- Zinc / Copper - 15 mg / 2 mg
- Optional – ATP Cofactors – 1 tablet 2 times per day
- Sea Water Supplement - 1 tsp. per 8 ounces of water [17]

Organophosphate Exposure and Infertility in Men
Organophosphate exposure plays a big role in male fertility issues particularly in men with vitamin K2 deficiency. Vitamin K2 is a nutrient that was only recently discovered. This nutrient, which is not available in the average diet of a person living in a developed nation such as the U.S., ensures that calcium is absorbed from the blood supply into bone tissues. It is particularly beneficial in terms of bone and blood health and it is even a cure for myeloma, leukemia, and lymphoma. But because vitamin K2 lowers blood calcium levels, it also improves iodine absorption. Without adequate levels of vitamin K2, iodine deficiency is more common and harder to correct. Vitamin D supplements can make this problem even worse in those with an existing vitamin K2 deficiency.Vitamin K2 seems to exert a protective effect against organophosphate buildup in the bone tissues. And vitamin K2 also is able to protect the bones from topical steroid creams that normally hurt bone density levels. Vitamin K2 works in tandem with vitamin D, a nutrient that functions more like a hormone than like a nutrient in the body. So when we talk about organophosphate exposure, men who want to treat infertility naturally should focus on supplementing with vitamin K2 and Lugol’s iodine 2%.
Get rid of calcium supplements and vitamin D supplements as well as sunscreen. Spend 15-30 minutes daily in the sun instead of taking these supplements.
Vitamin K2 is beneficial in the treatment of male infertility for a number of reasons. It helps with the absorption of iodine. And iodine is the primary reproductive organ nutrient that feeds the testicles, the prostate gland, and all of the male gear required for high sperm counts, good sexual function, and high libido. But vitamin K2 also clears away calcium buildup in the blood vessels. Blood vessels with calcium buildup in or leading to the penis or other reproductive structures are cleared and the calcium buildup is moved into bones and teeth. About half of the cholesterol and calcium buildup in the blood vessels throughout the body is corrected within 6 weeks of beginning vitamin K2 to improve fertility in men.
Vitamin K2 as a Natural Cure for Varicocele and Benign Prostate Hyperplasia
Research has shown that vitamin K2 deficiency plays a role in the development of varicose veins. A deficiency of vitamin K2 causes calcification of blood vessels and the proliferation of smooth muscle cells in the walls of veins and these are some of the major reasons why varicose veins occur. But some scientists have also made the connection between vitamin K2 and poor prostate health in general such that diseases like prostate cancer, benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), varicocele, and more are actually nothing more than a vitamin K2 deficiency disease. Indeed, I agree with this assessment of things except that I believe that iodine plays a role in prostate health as well. Vitamin K2 promotes iodine absorption in the body. And iodine feeds the reproductive organs exactly what they need in order to be healthy. Vitamin K2, of course, also ensures proper blood vessel function which is vital for proper sexual function and fertility. As a natural treatment for varicocele, vitamin K2 keeps blood vessels healthy which promotes the health of veins that have become blocked by calcium deposits. Varicoceles are incredibly common in men (15-20% of men suffer from varicoceles), especially the older that men get. Varicoceles are an important cause of male infertility, but it’s likely that a number of men can get rid of a varicocele without surgery by reducing vitamin D supplementation while taking vitamin K2.
Vitamin K2 Dosage as a Cure for Male Infertility
Vitamin K2 at 200 mcg per day is the recommended dose for men as a natural treatment for male infertility.Do not take vitamin D2 or vitamin D3 without also taking vitamin K2. Check your multivitamin to make sure that it does not contain vitamin D2 or vitamin D3 without also including vitamin K2.
Amino Acid Deficiency and Male Reproductive System Dysfunction
Certain amino acids are necessary in order for men to experience normal sexual function. For example, thyroid hormones, which govern metabolism, weight gain / weight loss, feelings of wakefulness and alertness, and which modulate immunity in the body, can only be manufactured in the body if there is a sufficient amount of molecular iodine present. If there’s not, the body may try to use something like bromide / bromine or fluoride / fluorine, but only with negative health effects as the final result. But even if there’s plenty of iodine present in the body, if a man is deficient in the amino acids L-phenylalanine or L-tyrosine he will also have problems manufacturing thyroid hormones. But that’s not all. Without adequate levels of L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine, a man also won’t be able to make dopamine. And without adequate levels of dopamine all kinds of things go awry in the body. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps men make good, informed decisions about their lives. A dopamine deficiency leads to problems like addiction. All types of addiction including video game addiction, social media addiction, gambling addiction, drug addiction, sugar addiction, and even addiction to toxic relationships are all caused to a great extent by dopamine deficiency. And dopamine deficiency happens when people get low on aminos like L-phenylalanine or L-tyrosine. Read more about how amino acids are used to manufacture dopamine here.

Dopamine and good decisions is not the end of the story though for male reproductive system health. Dopamine plays a central role in male sexual function. Biochemical pathways in the body begin at L-phenylalanine. L-phenylalanine can be converted into L-tyrosine. And then L-tyrosine is converted into a much smaller amino acid (that can easily get past the blood brain barrier) known as L-dopa. L-dopa is a precursor to dopamine. Foods like Mucuna pruriens and fava beans for example, contain a lot of L-dopa that’s converted within only 4 hours into dopamine to get rid of dopamine deficiency naturally. A person could eat L-dopa-containing foods like fava beans or the Mucuna bean (which contains other reproductive system enhancers like amygdalin / vitamin B17) or they could eat a lot of grass-fed meat products that contain L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine. All of these amino acids can also be taken in supplement form. Once the L-dopa amino is converted into dopamine, the dopamine is either used or it’s converted into neurotransmitters like noradrenaline or adrenaline.
Noradrenaline, which is a metabolic byproduct (so to speak) of dopamine, and a neurotransmitter, plays a vital role in penile erection. Noradrenaline is released by the sympathetic nervous system and it causes blood vessels to contract in the penis. As such, noradrenaline is anti-erectile. It is the neurotransmitter that prevents priapism or prolonged, painful erections. Nitric oxide is released by nitrergic nerves, in contrast, and it is pro-erectile as a substance that opposes noradrenaline. Noradrenaline and Nitric Oxide thus work together in the production of penile erection to produce a balanced and controlled sexual response. Normally, noradrenaline responses are regulated by the nitrergic nerves. The interaction between noradrenaline and nitric oxide occurs in the smooth muscle of the penis and if nitrergic neurotransmission is happening, it trumps noradrenaline in this context. Nitric oxide and nitrergic transmission causes smooth muscle in the penis to relax, opening up blood vessels.
An imbalance between noradrenaline nerve transmission and nitrergic nerve transmission is a cause of erectile dysfunction. If noradrenaline effects in the penis is not balanced with nitrergic effects, erectile dysfunction occurs. And noradrenaline is derived from dopamine. A dopamine deficiency thus leads to a noradrenaline deficiency.
Having said this though, it’s important to realize that nitric oxide as a treatment for erectile dysfunction is really just a band-aid treatment. In fact, the problem of amino acid deficiency plays an important role in this problem. Genetically modified (GMO) crops like corn and soybeans that once produced vitamin K2, L-tyrosine, and L- phenylalanine are specifically developed to no longer produce these nutrients. So deficiency in vitamin K2, L-tyrosine, and L-phenylalanine is nearly ubiquitous. Consumption of GMO products lead to issues like thyroid dysfunction and male sexual dysfunction because these plants are no longer a dietary resource for these vital nutrients.
And on top of all that, common herbicides like RoundUp / Glyphosate leave residues on food plants and consumption of these residues kills healthy gut bacteria that produce vitamin K2, L-tyrosine, and L-phenylalanine. Studies have shown that 54% of the gut flora is damaged by RoundUp / glyphosate exposure. Read more about these herbicides, how they impact human health, and how to protect yourself from them here.
So essentially, if you are dopamine deficient, you are also deficient in noradrenaline which can cause imbalances in the noradrenergic and nitrergic system that governs penile erection. Dopamine plays a vital role in male sexual function, particularly during foreplay and the arousal period prior to sexual intercourse. Scientists speculate that dopamine triggers penile erection by stimulating oxytocin neurons in the spinal cord. In any case, men who are deficient in L-phenylalanine, L-tyrosine, or L-dopa and / or dopamine will inevitably experience imbalances in the noradrenergic and nitrergic erectile effects which can cause sexual dysfunction as well as low libido in men.
Mucuna pruriens and Ashwaghanda as Herbal Remedies for Low Sperm Count
Mucuna pruriens can be taken with Ashwaghanda to regulate the production of testosterone and to improve semen quality and sperm count in infertile men. Ashwaghanda should be administered at 675 mg per day. Studies have shown that Ashwaghanda alone can improve sperm count by 167%.Mucuna pruriens Dosage as a Cure for Infertility in Men
Taking Mucuna pruriens, an Ayurvedic herb for erectile dysfunction, infertility, low semen quality, and low libido in men, restores dopamine to normal levels very quickly (usually within 4 hours). Mucuna is a mood booster that cures addiction and improves cognitive performance too. It should be taken at between 1000-6000 mg per day, ideally in 4 divided doses (of 250 to 1500 mg per dose). Take it with Ashwaghanda for maximum benefits.Summary
Though there are a number of natural treatments for male infertility, Lugol’s iodine, vitamin K2, and the use of Mucuna pruriens with Ashwaghanda are three that specifically and powerfully target male reproductive organ function to improve fertility levels through a variety of simultaneous mechanisms of action.Click here to subscribe to the Living Database!
