Tyrosine Supplement
Product information
Description
Tyrosine is an amino acid that is a precursor to dopamine, epinephrine (adrenaline), and norepinephrine (noradrenaline). This amino acid supplement works more slowly than the use of a concentrated Mucuna pruriens extract (which contains L-dopa), taking up to 24 hours to convert the tyrosine into useable dopamine in the brain after taking a dose. Thus, if you choose to use this supplement, it's absolutely essential to stay on track with your dosing! The authors recommend starting with Mucuna pruriens, and then if you feel confident, you may try stepping down to tyrosine.
The dosage of tyrosine for the treatment of ADHD, addiction, depression/anxiety, long haul COVID, and other mood disorders is 2000mg every 3-4 hours (take 4 times a day). This supplement contains 750mg per capsule, so you'll need to take a dose of 3 capsules every 4 hours (this would equate to 2,250mg total tyrosine per dosing).
Individuals with phenylketonuria (PKU) may also benefit from a regular tyrosine supplement.
