Kava Kava / Piper methysticum Supplement
Kava Kava is a supplement derived from the root of the kava plant and is native to the South Pacific and Oceanic island nations such as Fiji and Indonesia. Although useful for the treatment of a variety of addictions, Kava Kava is particularly helpful for recovering benzodiazepine addicts. The kavapyrones in this plant reduce cravings for drugs and alcohol, and the various other constituents in the plant bind to many different receptors in the brain, making the process of quitting much smoother. Kava Kava can help with the following:
- Treats insomnia
- Relaxes muscles
- Reduces anxiety
- Relieves fatigue while promoting feelings of calm
- Sharpens the mind
- Enhances memory
The dosage for Kava Kava at home varies between 250mg to 1000mg or even 1500mg per day, depending on the source. Some even say that instant doses of 10g to 35g of traditional Kava Kava is necessary in some cases. This supplement offers 1000mg of Kava Kava per capsule. Take 1 capsule per day at first. Kava Kava has a “reverse tolerance” effect where users often do not feel the effects of the plant the first few times they take it, so give yourself at least 1 week to tell whether or not the Kava Kava is having the intended effects. You may take 2 capsules per day if desired, but wait until 1 week after starting before increasing the dosage.
Some sources report that long-term, continuous use of Kava Kava can have negative effects on the liver. Therefore, it is best to take breaks from taking Kava Kava from time to time.
