Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) Supplement
Alpha lipoic acid, otherwise known as ALA, is a useful supplement for people with Long COVID who are trying to regain their energy and well-being post-infection. In addition to supporting mitochondrial energy production, ALA is also anti-inflammatory and reduces cytokine production, meaning that it is a good choice for people who are experiencing cytokine storm syndrome. It can also be used to help recovering COVID patients get their smell back. While alpha lipoic acid may be administered as an IV, many patients find it easier to use this compound in a supplement form that they can take at home.
To treat Long COVID or any other form of chronic fatigue, take 600mg per day of alpha lipoic acid (this supplement contains 600mg in one capsule, so you should be taking 1 capsule of this supplement daily). For best results, take ALA at the same time as L-carnitine and CoQ10, preferably in the morning. You may also choose to take NAC at the same time as ALA.
