Piracetam: Cure Chronic Pain Cure and Reduce Allergy Symptoms

Piracetam is a nootropic that has also been used to reduce pain and inflammation in chronic pain disorders like fibromyalgia. It works through various mechanisms of action including through the modulation of histamine levels, by reducing myeloperoxidase activity, reducing IL-1beta production, and by reducing oxidative stress.

Chronic Pain and Inflammation: Piracetam

Inflammatory pain results from cytokine production, neutrophil migration, oxidative stress, and prostanoid release. Piracetam provides pain relief by modulating all of these factors. It has been used in animal studies to reduce neuropathic pain, albeit, at very high doses (200 mg/kg body weight). Piracetam often requires a fairly high dose in order to be effective at controlling chronic pain.

Studies have shown that piracetam improves mitochondrial function and the fluidity of mitochondrial membranes. Piracetam enhances ATP synthesis (the production of energy) within cells, which in turn, helps cells heal. Improving membrane fluidity enhances cell functioning in a general way. In brain cells, piracetam improves neuroplasticity and is especially beneficial as an anti-aging medicine.

Though piracetam can be helpful in regard to chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, dosage matters. For this particular nootropic, you have to take a fairly high dose to experience pain-relieving effects.

Piracetam Dosage:

Piracetam is a medication that’s been around for a long time. It has an excellent safety profile and it is often available over-the-counter and many people use piracetam as a nootropic to enhance cognitive performance. As a pain medication that can be used to treat fibromyalgia at home, piracetam is usually administered at a dose of 1200 mg twice daily for 2 weeks. Then, the dose is increased to 2400 mg twice daily for another two weeks. After that, patients continue taking piracetam at a dose of 4800 mg per day.

Piracetam is often administered with Hydergine, an Ergoloid at a dose of 1 mg for fibromyalgia and other rheumatic pain syndromes.
