Apis Mellifica and Bee Treatments for Hair Loss

Ancient physicians once noted that if they applied a mixture of crushed honey bees and alcohol topically to the scalp as a remedy for hair loss, the patient’s hair would indeed did regrow. Today, scientists are experimenting with bee venom as a natural treatment for alopecia. And, like the ancient physicians who used crushed honey bees instead of an bee venom, today’s scientists have found that bee venom acts as a natural remedy for hair loss.

Bee venom works to promote hair regrowth naturally by preventing the transition from anagen to catagen phase. According to studies bee venom was able to boost hair growth in a dose dependent manner compared to a control group of study participants who received minoxidil treatment instead.

Bee venom in this study also had the following effects on hair regrowth:

  • Bee venom as a hair loss remedy was able to inhibit the expression of SRD5A2, which is responsible for encoding type II 5-alpha-reductase which, in turn, plays an important role in converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). High DHT levels cause hair follicles to shrink which can lead to hair loss. Bee venom prevents this progression of events by inhibiting SRD5A2.
  • Bee venom therapy stimulates the growth and proliferation of hDPCs.
  • Bee venom therapy stimulates the production of growth factors that boost hair growth naturally.

The scientists concluded that, in comparison with minoxidil, Bee Venom Therapy acted as a powerful, yet natural hair loss treatment that works via its effects on 5-alpha-reductase and DHT.

If you are able to obtain bee venom (search for medical grade apitoxin) easily where you live, use with caution and only in very small doses. Add the bee venom to castor oil in a 1:1000 ratio and apply it to the scalp. Increase the dose incrementally over time. Do not use this mixture on broken skin because bee venom can cause an allergic reaction in higher doses if it comes into contact with the blood supply.

Apis Mellifica: Homeopathic Remedy for Hair Loss

Apis Mellifica is a homeopathic bee-derived, natural cure for alopecia. It has specifically been noted as a cure for Lichen Planopilaris, which is a type of infection that is likely caused by Iodine Deficiency and that might respond well to combination of nutrient therapies as well as administration of apis mellifica.

Apis Mellifica may be easier for some people in certain countries to find and purchase for use as an at-home hair loss treatment in comparison with bee venom. As with other alopecia cures, you’ll need to work with Apis Mellifica and other bee-derived treatments for at least 6 months to really see the results.

Bee Pollen / Propolis as a Natural Hair Regrowth Remedy

There are a number of anecdotal reports indicating that bee pollen can be used to regrow hair naturally. Bee pollen / propolis can be taken as supplements by mouth. Take 1-2 tablespoons of bee pollen daily as a natural treatment for alopecia.

Royal Jelly as a Natural Treatment for Alopecia

Royal Jelly has a very high nutrient content and it also contains some reproductive hormones that are relevant to hair loss. It contains vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that help promote hair regrowth naturally. Specifically, Royal Jelly contains B complex vitamins like Biotin, vitamin B12 and folate (which promotes healthy hair, skin, and nails when taken with vitamin B12) and the amino acid Cysteine, all of which are beneficial in terms of hair regrowth.

Hair Regrowth Using Bee Products

Bee products have a lot to offer us in terms of medicine. Indeed, there are a number of different types of “venom” that can be used by the general public to treat a wide array of different health conditions including hair loss. If you feel drawn to using bee products, consider working with an apitherapist who is knowledgeable about the use of bee venom and other bee products for hair loss.

Additional Cures for Hair Loss: The AlivenHealthy Living Database

The AlivenHealthy Living Database of Alternative Medicines and our Living Database of Essential Oils is now available by subscription. Currently our database of alternative medicines with links to scientific research along with our database of essential oil treatments for diseases are available by subscription. Our databases are “alive” and “living” because we add to them daily with new links to scientifically proven cures for diseases, treatments for serious injuries, disorders, mental health problems, and even natural alternatives in terms of insect repellants and sunscreens (for example). It has become more and more difficult to find this information through a search engine so we decided to make these databases available to the public so they can find the documented cures for diseases that we’ve been studying for years.

Also, consider downloading our package that includes The Psoriasis Cure and The Gallbladder as a book bundle to begin working with the core issues underlying hair loss.
