How to Cure Pulmonary Edema Naturally At-Home

What is pulmonary edema?

Pulmonary edema is defined as an excess fluid buildup in the lungs. When fluid builds up abnormally in the lungs, it collects in the tiny air sacs known as alveoli making it hard to breathe. 


The most common cause of pulmonary edema is related to the heart and its ability to pump blood through the body. If there is a lot of resistance in the blood vessels of the body or if the left ventricle of, the heart is weakened and cannot effectively push blood out into the blood vessels, pressure will build up in the left ventricle. This pressure then backs up into the left atrium and into the blood vessels coming from the lungs. This buildup of pressure back into the lungs is what leads to a fluid build up in the lungs in many cases involving pulmonary edema, but there are other causes as well, for example:


  • Pneumonia or lung infection
  • Exposure to toxins in the environment
  • Chemotherapy medications can cause pulmonary edema
  • Chest wall trauma
  • High altitude travel without proper acclimatization
  • Exercising at high altitudes


Medications That Are Commonly Prescribed by Doctors to Treat Pulmonary Edema in Conventional Medicine Settings

Conventional medicine doctors typically are not able to offer a cure for pulmonary edema. Doctors can treat the symptoms of disease, but they are not able to treat the root cause of pulmonary edema with pharmacological medications. 


Below are common treatments that doctors offer their pulmonary edema patients to attempt to cover up the symptoms of disease and delay lung tissue damage as long as possible:


  • Morphine Morphine – Morphine is an addictive drug that is often given to patients with pulmonary edema because it relieves the anxiety associated with shortness of breath.   • Blood Pressure Drugs / Anti-hypertensives – Blood pressure medications are used to lower the pressure of blood going into and out of the heart. Unfortunately, however, one of the side effects of blood pressure drugs is precisely the symptom that doctors are trying to treat: edema. Patients who are prescribed blood pressure medications often experience a range of uncomfortable side effects that negatively affect their quality of life. But it can be difficult to stop taking blood pressure drugs once a patient starts taking these medications. Natural Pulmonary Edema Cures

Pulmonary edema is another way of saying “excess fluid in the lungs”. When a person has pulmonary edema, liquid fills up the air sacs in the lungs, making it difficult for the patient to breathe. Pulmonary edema or “fluid in the lungs” can be caused by a variety of imbalances in the body including infection or exposure to toxins in the environment or at the workplace, medications, physical trauma, or exposure to high elevations. In this article, we are primarily discussing pulmonary edema that develops gradually due to a chronic disease state such as a congestive heart failure or cancer.


If you develop pulmonary edema suddenly and without warning, this is a medical emergency. But if you have pulmonary edema that developed as a result of another chronic disease process, and you’re looking for a cure for fluid in the lungs, there are several options to choose from.

Supplemental Oxygen for Pulmonary Edema / Fluid in the Lungs

In a hospital setting, pulmonary edema is usually treated first and foremost with supplemental oxygen to ensure that all of the organs receive plenty of oxygen, or at least this is the theory behind the provision of supplemental oxygen. Patients can often obtain supplemental oxygen at home, but the use of supplemental oxygen should be balanced with the use of molecular hydrogen (see below) in pulmonary edema. While supplemental oxygen can relieve some of the symptoms of pulmonary edema in terms of lack of oxygenation in the body, molecular hydrogen has the ability to cure fluid in the lungs and repair the damage that is causing pulmonary edema in the first place. On the other hand, reliance on supplemental oxygen in patients with pulmonary edema can lead to additional tissue damage in the lungs and a progression of lung disease.

Patients with pulmonary edema may derive comfort from knowing that they can breathe supplemental oxygen at home if they need it, but inhalation of molecular hydrogen or drinking high concentration molecular hydrogen water can cure pulmonary edema. Typically, patients inhale molecular oxygen for approximately 45 minutes per day.

Molecular Hydrogen as a Cure for Fluid in the Lungs / Pulmonary Edema 

Several scientific studies have shown that drinking or nebulizing water that contains high levels of molecular hydrogen can cure fluid in the lungs / pulmonary edema. Molecular hydrogen works through the inhibition of oxidative damage and inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines throughout the body. By decreasing inflammation throughout the body, blood vessels become less constricted, putting up less resistance to the heart pumping blood throughout the body. Blood then is less likely to get backed up into the lungs causing fluid build up / pulmonary edema.


One study examined acute lung injury that was caused by exposure to high oxygen concentrations and the use of molecular hydrogen to repair this damage. In this study, animal models were given water with dissolved molecular hydrogen in it to a saturated level. The results of this study showed that molecular hydrogen water can cure pulmonary edema that was caused by exposure to high oxygen levels. 


Patients benefit from drinking the high-concentration molecular hydrogen water, but they can also inhale it using a special machine that produces the water for drinking but that also has an attachment for inhalation.


As an average consumer, there are several ways to obtain molecular hydrogen dissolved in water. A Kangen Machine produces highly alkaline water that achieves this high level of alkalinity through electrolysis that results in high levels of molecular hydrogen. Some people speculate that the curative effects of the Kangen Machine water against cancer and other diseases is due to the fact that it produces molecular hydrogen. 



Additionally, however, there are molecular hydrogen machines that function not only to produce drinking water but also high-concentration molecular hydrogen air that can be breathed directly into the lungs to cure pulmonary edema. 



Qingdonghuoxue / Qingre huoxue as a Pulmonary Edema Cure


Qingdonghuoxue (also known as Qidong Huoxue or Qingre huoxue) is a traditional Chinese medicine that is used to treat acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome both have a high mortality rate that follows the development of pulmonary edema and lung inflammation. Qigdonghuoxue is able to alleviate lung inflammation and pulmonary edema according to scientific studies. Scientific studies have shown that this medicine works by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine levels. 


N-Acetylcysteine (NAC), Acetylcysteine or Cysteine as a Cure for Pulmonary Edema

N-Acetylcysteine (NAC), Acetylcysteine, and Cysteine are related compounds that all have observable effects on the viscosity of mucus and sputum. These medicines have the ability to thin mucus and thus promote detoxification of the body from the sinuses and lungs to the digestive system and reproductive system where mucus is also produced.


NAC is used in a variety of health situations because it is one of the strongest detoxification agents that patients can take and it has a very low toxicity level. It has curative effects on the brain and cognition as well as on the lungs and any part of the body that produces mucus. NAC is used to promote fertility and some fertility experts believe that it works in women by thinning vaginal mucus to make it easier for the sperm to reach the ovum.

And since the 1960’s, doctors in clinical settings have been using proteolytic enzymes to support the physiological process of healing. Trypsin / Chymotrypsin have been studied specifically in terms of their effects on lung tissue healing in patients with a variety of lung diseases.


One scientific study looked at the use of chymotrypsin to treat plastic bronchitis in children, an obstructive lung disease that involves the production of hard “casts” in the airways. Plastic bronchitis is a rare pediatric respiratory disease that can lead to an inability to breathe similar to choking. There is no pharmacological treatment for plastic bronchitis available from conventional medicine doctors, but scientists have found that alpha-chymotrypsin is a pancreatic enzyme that functions as a mucolytic to liquify and decrease the viscosity of mucus but that also can be used to open an airway that been closed off by “casts”.


Children with plastic bronchitis have been cured with chymotrypsin that is instilled directly into the trachea. For example, doctors administered chymotrypsin into the trachea to open an 8-year old boy’s trachea. After the airway was opened, the patient recovered completely and no longer developed obstructions in the lungs after that. In other words, his plastic bronchitis was cured by chymotrypsin.


Alpha-Chymotrypsin is a natural cure for pulmonary edema that works by decreasing inflammation and edema (fluid-buildup) throughout the body. It also has the following effects on the body:


  • Dilutes mucus to relieve bronchitis, asthma, sinusitis, and other types of lung disease.
