Propolis and Honey Natural COVID Treatment

NOTE: Honey and propolis are both antioxidants which means that they should not be used in tandem with OXIDANT medicines mentioned earlier in this book. To use an antioxidant and an oxidant medicine at the same time essentially cancels out the medicinal benefits of both. 


Bee products were studied extensively during the early stages of the pandemic as possible COVID treatments. Hospitals have used honey and propolis as helper therapies to enhance patient outcomes and decrease mortality. 

Both bee honey and propolis have strong medicinal properties including the following:


  • Antimicrobial
  • Antiviral
  • Antibacterial
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Immunodulatory
  • Antioxidant


Some people have used bee products such as Manuka honey and New Zealand propolis to prevent COVID or as helper therapies for COVID. The following chemical constituents of honey and propolis may be able to prevent the spike protein on the COVID virus from attaching to human cells to replicate. By preventing replication, these substances may be able to prevent or limit COVID infection:



  • Rutin –



Rutin works in a manner similar to the drug remdesivir to inhibit the production of non-structural proteins in the COVID virus.



  • Naringin –



Naringin and Rutin work together to inhibit COVID infection. 



  • Caffeic acid phenyl ester




  • Luteolin – 



Luteolin is a plant flavonoid found in many herbs, vegetables, honeys, and propolis. has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-oxidant, and neuroprotective and neuron-growth-promoting activity. Luteolin inhibits entry of the COVID virus into human cells by preventing fusion of the virus with receptors on the cell membrane. Having adequate luteolin in the diet plays a role in preventing COVID infection and it may also prevent COVID-19 symptoms during infection. Luteolin is much stronger than remdesivir in inhibiting the enzymes responsible for COVID infection.



  • Artepillin –



High quality honey products and New Zealand propolis or Green Brazilian propolis may also be able to prevent specific interactions between the virus and human host cells that trigger the cytokine storm that can lead to complicated COVID infections. Nanocarriers of propolis extracts have better antiviral effects than ethanolic extracts.

Green Brazilian Propolis or Honey and Nigella sativa for COVID

Hospitalized COVID-19 patients received either Green Brazilian Propolis or a combination of honey with Nigella sativa (black seed). All of these patients experienced a faster recovery, earlier viral clearance, and quicker discharges from the hospital. They also had lower mortality rates than people who received only the standard conventional medicine treatment.
