What is colostrum?
This is the first milk that mother mammals produce in late pregnancy and just following the birth of a newborn. When the newborn drinks this milk, it closes the porous walls of the intestines. And colostrum is full of antibodies and it’s high in protein. So it protects the newborn against disease by offering passive immunity. Meanwhile, growth factors stimulate the maturation of the gut.
Colostrum was made available for adult human consumption by Douglass Wyatt, founder of Sovereign Laboratories about 25 years ago. The colostrum currently on the market is mostly bovine colostrum. Because it originates from cows, it does contain small amount of lactose, but it’s general still safe for those who are sensitive to lactose, but it may pose issues for those who are allergic to casein, one of the primary proteins in milk. If you’ve ever had an anaphylactic reaction to dairy products, do not consume colostrum.
Research demonstrated that colostrum has a significant biological impact on the inflammatory process in adults. In other words, colostrum can reduce inflammation throughout the body. Since inflammation plays a major role in all autoimmune diseases, colostrum offers another angle to take for those who are using alternative treatments of psoriasis. Supplements with colostrum may not only diminish skin inflammation for psoriasis sufferers, but also help heal the gut. This is important because psoriasis is caused by an inability of the gut, kidneys, and liver to detoxify the body properly. In the human body, the detoxification organs include the kidneys, liver, gut, and skin. Normally, these organs all work together smoothly to detoxify the body such that the skin is only mildly affected by toxicities. But psoriasis sufferers have more difficulty successfully detoxifying via the kidneys, liver, and intestines. Colostrum not only lowers inflammation in the skin, but also helps heal the intestines so that they can start detoxifying the body properly.
Benefits of Colostrum as a Natural Treatment for Psoriasis
Psoriasis sufferers who take colostrum can expect to benefit from it in the following ways:
- Diminishes inflammation of the skin and psoriatic lesions
- Heals the gut to diminish psoriasis symptoms in general since many psoriasis sufferers also suffer from Leaky Gut Syndrome.
- Enhances general immunity
- Contains growth components that reverse the destruction of skin cells and while reversing protein degeneration. This allows the body repair skin and muscle tissues more easily.
- Colostrum slowly diminishes the presence of Candida albicans in the body which improves not only psoriasis but general health.
Healing Leaky Gut Syndrome Using Colostrum
Anyone who has Leaky Gut Syndrome knows that it isn’t easy to heal from this disorder. After years of being exposed to antibiotics and toxins that cause Leaky Gut, it can take many years to heal it as well. Leaky Gut is caused when the intestinal walls become too permeable. When this happens a variety of autoimmune disease states can happen including psoriasis. Colostrum is the only natural substance currently known to man that has the ability to heal the gastrointestinal tract in humans.
Colostrum works to restore the normal permeability levels to the gut because it contains a balance of hormones and growth factors that are able to quickly repair damage that’s been done to the intestinal lining that ultimately maintains the integrity of the cellular junctions. Colostrum also contains high levels of immunoglobulin and other natural antibodies that help to improve the intestinal flora or the ecosystem of bacteria, viruses, and fungi that live within the digestive system.
Daily Dose Information:
Take 2 Tablespoons in water on an empty stomach (30 minutes before meals) two times per day in the morning and in the evening. Colostrum supplements are available not only as a powder, but also as a pill, and as chewable tablets.
