Quick Summary

Urine fasting, which involves drinking one’s own urine and spreading the urine on the skin usually while abstaining from eating and drinking anything else except water, can have rapid results when all else fails. The practice comes from the east where people regularly drink a daily dose of their urine as  part of a yoga practice in India. About 3 million Chinese people drink their urine daily too in order to maintain good health. Urine contains phenylbuterate, a substance that is administered to cancer patients intravenously and many doctors believe that urine also contains valuable hormones, enzymes, and other substances that, when re-introduced into the body, can re-balance the patient’s physiology.

Detailed Introduction

Urine fasting is a controversial treatment approach for cancer in large part because it involves drinking one’s own urine and spreading urine on the skin. But urine fasting has been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) while increasing HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). It also weakens cancer cells through mechanisms that aren’t entirely understood although phenylbutyrate is found in the blood and urine and this substance has been used successfully as an intravenous cancer treatment [2].

Urine is made up of 95% water, 2.5% urea, and 2.5% minerals, salts, hormones, and enzymes. It is sterile when it leaves the body and has antiseptic qualities [1][3]. On a urine fast, patients only consume urine and so this “diet” effectively starves cancer cells. Experts on this treatment method also believe that there are other important mechanisms at work that promote healing on the body.

Effectiveness

According to urine therapy proponents, the kidneys remove excess enzymes, hormones, minerals, and other important substances from the blood in order to create balance in the body [3]. Below are some of the diseases and disorders that respond to urine therapy:

  • Hair loss
  • Throat inflammation
  • Trembling hands and knees
  • Scurvy
  • Jaundice
  • Deafness
  • Sore eyes
  • Numbness
  • Sores
  • Gangrene
  • Itching
  • Cancer [1][3]
Urine Fasting Basics

Urine fasting involves drinking urine as well as applying urine to the skin. Patients drink all of their urine and/or spread it on their skin until they’ve fully recovered from cancer. During a urine fast, patients don’t eat food and only consume urine and water. Contrary to expectation, patients often urinate more when they are doing a urine fast [1][4].

John Armstrong used urine fasting to treat a number of cancer patients who had been rejected by their doctors as untreatable. He also used urine to treat other serious diseases such as gangrene. Urine fasting may take place over the course of several days or weeks or until the patient has been entirely healed [1][4].

At the end of a urine fast, preferably at the time of an evening meal, patients are encouraged to begin by drinking a glass of lemon juice. At noon the following day, the patient can drink date juice or grape juice. On the evening of the second day following the urine fast, the patient can eat papaya and other fruits. By day three, lentil soup is recommended with boiled vegetables and brown rice. After that a normal diet can resume [5].
